Putting yourself out there is scary.
Thing is, as an online business owner, it’s necessary.
If you run your business online then you need to market yourself online.
And marketing yourself online means social media.
We all know that social media, at times, can be a cruel place.
We fear that our family and friends might judge our posts.
We’re worried about we will come across.
Nonetheless it is NECESSARY and unavoidable.
It can be really tough to get past those blocks in the beginning.
You have to make yourself, force yourself to market yourself to your potential clients.
I get it.
Honestly, before I started my online business, I had quit all social media.
It scared the life out of me to go back but I knew that I had to!
Get some practice in:
Practice makes perfect, right?
If nothing else, it will help you to feel a little more confident!
Practice putting yourself out there, whether it be recording videos or going live
in a private community of fellow business owners to test it out!
Online business communities are amazing for tips, tricks and getting some
practice in with people who are in the same boat as you.
Do your research and see what other business owners in the same industry as you,
are doing on social media. Seeing what people are doing out there can give you ideas
and get your creative juices flowing!
*Do Not Copy Their Content. I Repeat, Do Not Copy Their Content*
It will probably get noticed if you do and people really don't like it, as you can imagine!
The key here is to find inspiration.
Getting over what the people in your life think:
Knowing that your family and friends are going to see you putting yourself
out there on social media is nerve wracking.
What will they think?
They're going to judge me.
They'll think I'm showing off.
These are all valid feelings! It is scary but you have to do it or potential clients won't see you.
In the very beginning your audience may start small and consist of mostly the people in your life but the more you put yourself out there, the more your audience will grow and it will contain the people that your content is aimed at.
You might notice that the more you promote yourself on social media, your family
and friends will stop passing comments to you about it.
Just as you will, they will get used to it and realise that it is a part of your business!
By the way, your family and friends will actually admire your confidence and ability to put yourself out there, even if you aren't feeling confident.
Be kind to yourself:
Nobody criticises us the way we criticise ourselves.
Give yourself a break, it doesn't have to be perfect.
I look forward to seeing you online!!
Until next time,
